Getting Started

The Public Diplomacy Wiki is governed by a strict citation policy. All posted information must be cited. There are two simple guidelines to follow. First, cite often. Second, when in doubt, cite. If you are unsure of when it is appropriate to cite, please refer to the following: Princeton's University's Guide to Citing Sources [1] and Dartmouth College's Guide to Citing Sources [2]

How to Cite

Citations should be written according to the Chicago Manuel of Style, 15 addition. For example, to cite a book, such as Dizard's Inventing Public Diplomacy, the citation should read as follows:

Wilson P. Dizard, Jr, Inventing Public Diplomacy: The Story of the U.S. Information Agency (Boulder, CO: Lynne Rienner Publishers), 2004.

An article from a website should be cited as follows:

Eric Brahm, "Public Diplomacy", Beyond Intractability, Ed. Guy Burgess and Heidi Burgess. August 2006, http://www.beyondintractability.org/essay/public_diplomacy/?nid=6790.
