John McLaughlin has worked professionally as a strategic consultant and pollster for twenty years. During this time he has earned a reputation for helping to guide underdog Republicans and conservative challengers to victory. He has worked across America and internationally in hundreds of campaigns.

McLaughlin's recent clients include Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (CA); Iain Duncan Smith, the leader of the Conservative Party (United Kingdom); Stephen Harper, the leader of the Conservative Party (Canada); Virginia Attorney General Jerry Kilgore; and a historic 30-seat Republican majority in the Virginia House of Delegates.

In 2000, John McLaughlin worked as the pollster and a strategist for Virginia Senator George Allen — the only Republican challenger to defeat an incumbent Senator in the country that year. For this work, he received the prestigious Political Campaign of the Year Award from PRWeek Magazine. Over the years, John McLaughlin has worked on several successful Republican U.S. Senators' campaigns, including Senator John Warner ('02), Senator George Allen ('00), Richard Lugar ('00), Senator Richard Shelby ('98), Senator Jeff Sessions ('96), Senator Lauch Faircloth ('92), Senator Jesse Helms ('84/'90), Senator Connie Mack ('88), Senator Alfonse D'Amato ('86), Senator Don Nickles ('86), and Senator Gordon Humphrey ('84).

He also helped the campaigns of former Virginia Governors Jim Gilmore and George Allen, former Alabama Governor Fob James, and Republican mayors Frank Rizzo (Philadelphia, PA), Bret Schundler (Jersey City, NJ), and Tom Fetzer (Raleigh, NC). He has advised the Republican National Committee, the Republican Senatorial Committee, the Republican Governors Association, and the Media Research Center.

McLaughlin has also done polling and consulting for 24 incumbent Republican members of Congress. These include Speaker of the House Denny Hastert (IL-14); Tom Davis (VA-); Roscoe Bartlett (MD-6); Eric Cantor (VA-7); Ander Crenshaw (FL-4); Tim Johnson (IL-15); Peter King (NY-3); Mark Kirk (IL-10); Dana Rohrabacher (CA-46); Mark Souder (IN-4); John Sweeney (NY-20) and Ed Whitfield (KY-1).

Mr. McLaughlin also has done extensive market research and consulting for non-profit and corporate clients. His major clients: Smithfield Foods, Pfizer, CTIA - The Wireless Association, The Latino Coalition, the Media Research Center, the New York Jets, the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida, Trigon and McGuire Woods Consulting. In 1996 and again in 2000, John McLaughlin worked as the campaign pollster and a consultant for Republican Presidential candidate Steve Forbes.

John McLaughlin holds an M.B.A. from Fordham University, with a concentration in Quantitative Methods and Finance, and a B.A. from Fordham College in Political Science. He has appeared on CBS, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, Fox News, C-SPAN, PBS, radio talk shows across America, and works as a consultant to CBS News Radio and MTV. His articles have been published in a wide range of publications, including National Review, Middle East Quarterly, Campaigns and Elections, and The Polling Report. He was named to the first edition of Who's Who in Advertising, is a member of Mensa, and received a 1991 Telly Award for ad creation.
